Family and Parenting Support

Maybe you already have a child and find their behaviour hard to understand, have a child with neurodivergent needs or perhaps want to understand your own response to your child. We can work with you to help develop an understanding of what is going on for you and/or your child. This can include working together to develop a shared understanding of what might be contributing to your child's mental health and finding some ways for you to be able to support them. We can also provide your child with their own one to one support.

We know that sometimes for many reasons parenting can feel overwhelming, bringing to the surface a mixture of feelings and memories from our own past. This can leave us with feelings of anger, guilt or shame amongst others - making the task of parenting even harder.

Trying to keep on top of how you are feeling as well as responding in the way we would like to our children can at times feel impossible. We can provide you with a safe, non-judgemental and trauma-informed space to explore and process these feelings.

Common reasons for seeking support

It feels hard to connect with your child

Your child seems low in mood or anxious

Feeling overwhelmed, guilty or angry as a parent

We can work flexibly to suit your needs

We believe in finding ways to support you to support your child with their mental health. As parents, you are the most important people in their life and through supporting you it can have a truly transformational impact on your relationship with your child.

One-off parent only session

Perhaps you know exactly what you want to discuss and what you want support with or you have met with us before and would like to have a session to discuss further difficulties. This is booked on an ad-hoc basis and for you to book when it feels useful.

Ongoing parent sessions

This is the same as the one-off session, but involves meeting over an agreed period of time to work on areas of difficulty. This is predominantly with parents only, however may include some joint work with your child if this feels helpful.

Individual sessions for your child

We usually find that it is most helpful to meet with parents at an initial session, following which we are happy to meet with young people individually. That said, we are happy to meet with your child from the outset if this suits your family.

To begin the process, get in touch via email and we can schedule a free 15 minute consultation at a time that suits you.

This is a space for you to be able to speak with us before committing to any further sessions. It is an opportunity for you to discuss what you'd like support with, ask any questions and decide if working with us is the right decision.
